Hello (again), I'm following the howto on configuring scim to enable Chinese input, and the last thing I have to do is im-switch -z en_US.UTF-8 -s scim, but I get bash: im-switch: command not found. Any solution?
Edit: Sorry I'm such a noob, just had to install it *facepalm*

Hello Martin,
you could try ibus as replacement for SCIM, it has a nice interface, and two (or more) pinyin databases to choose from. It also doesn't require the im-switch and will eventually replace SCIM.
sudo apt-get install ibus ibus-gtk ibus-pinyinto install, and start it with alt-f3 -> ibus-daemon. Log out and back to take effect.
Find other pinyin databases:
apt-cache search ibus pinyin
ibus-googlepinyin - googlepinyin engine for ibus
ibus-pinyin - Pinyin engine for IBus
ibus-pinyin-db-android - Pinyin engine for IBus - Android database
ibus-pinyin-db-open-phrase - Pinyin engine for IBus - open-phrase database
ibus-sunpinyin - sunpinyin engine for ibus
pinyin-database - PinYin database used by ibus-pinyinLast edited by machinebacon (2012-03-02 17:29:33)
