sound

every now and then my sound goes all weird starts out with like sound distortion then no sound at all, i have to ctrl - alt - backspace to get it back and sometimes have to reboot.
Any way i can prevent this from happening??

Any idea what's causing it? What programs are running when it happens? What media player do you use? Do you get any error messages from anything?

only thing i can think might be causing it is youtube =S  doesnt only affect youtube but all sound but seems to happen if ive paused or finished watching something on youtube and havent closed it or refreshed it in awhile.
seems to happen when im on there, and im not getting any error.
