remastersys: keeps software, but doesn't keep configuration

I ran remastersys to build the file system and create the ISO.  I had assumed remastersys would retain the settings that were in force at the time of the remaster (i.e., menu.xml, wallpapers), but this was not so.  The ISO contained all the software I loaded, but the menu.xml, for example, I built was discarded in favor of the default.  Otherwise, the ISO seems to be working fine as a live cd.

How do I run remastersys so that not only the software, but also the settings are carried over to the ISO?

put all your config files and everything into /etc/skel

/etc/skel is the directory that Linux checks when making a new user, even if that user is only for a live session. This is where it gets all the defaults.

I think that youcan set the live session username, as defined here:

There is a configuration file - /etc/remastersys.conf where you can set things like the name of the livecd/dvd, the live session username, other files to exclude from the cd/dvd, etc.
