Ok, so I didn't write my intro before actually posting on another subject.
So, hello Bangers n' Crunch fans! I'm a Linux user of about 2 yrs now, having become fed up with the entire Windows / Mac world.
My pc isn't exactly old, per se, neither is it new. However, it's become a technical *Bessie* of sorts, so after having struggled with getting Gnome or KDE to nearly give the old girl a heart attack, I eventually wound up toying around with Openbox and LXDE. I have several Puppies on usb drives, but I decided I REALLY wanted an OS for the main drive that could get my hands good and dirty.
Leaving me here, learning as I go.

Hi and welcome timclev.
I feel a bit ashamed as I've been on this forum for a little while and haven't figured out how to get the 'PM' on my profile, while it seems you have already.
Could I ask how you did it please?

Thanks for the welcoming!
I've already read a little bit of the java thread, merelyjim and I think it certainly suits me.
kri5 - as far as the PM goes, I've no clue. I just filled out the preferences and profile info, and it shows up. Just so you apparently didn't know, it does show up on your prof.

@kri5: it doesn't show up on your own profile because why would you want to PM yourself?

why would you want to PM yourself?
Because sometimes, it's nice to hear the opinion of a truly handsome genius.
And timclev, welcome to the glorius world outside of Gnome/KDE. Get ready to love your OS like never before!
Forums are boring, drinking is awesome.

Thanks everyone for pointing out what appears to be the obvious, don't know why I didn't think of that.
Was beginning to get an inferiority complex for a minute.

...and what are they going to do, put on sungglasses and come after us?

They very well might, merelyjim. But it's pretty easy to spot them. They come after you waving King James Bibles attempting to clobber anything in their path.
