After listening to Home Taping, I decided to check out some of Dan Bull's Open Letters. Very different, a kind of post-hiphop Brit-rap with his vocals heavily processed, either through AutoTune or a vocoder...I wouldn't call it music/singing so much as blank verse poetry, or even prose...

Pearl Jam - Yellow Ledbetter
Could always play this by ear, but am now sitting down to learn/play it note for note... An incredible composition...

^ They share the same roots.
The gypsies have roots in India and Flamenco is heavy influenced by Spanish gypsies apart from Arabic music and other Spanish stuff.
And I love her new album.

Jason Mraz - Common Pleasure (Jason Mraz - A Demonstration) 1999
Pity he's drifted so far from this kind of writing...his semi-indie releases during the Elektra years occasionally revisited this style, but ever since his move to Atlantic...

@lowrider: And while we are at it, this song is with Concha Buika, a great musician from Spain. And you posted a bombastic song!

Jimmy Buffett -- "Fruitcakes" and probably a lot more Buffett to follow.

Let's see. Lining up more Buffett on Spotify (I'm at the newspaper office on a Windows box):
"He Went to Paris"
"Havana Daydreamin'"
"A Pirate Looks at 40" (good call, Vast)
"Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season"
Hmmm. Looking also at a list of Neil Young . . . "Harvest Moon" afterward?
