crunchbang.org repository

I saw in the latest blog post that the repository is going to move from crunchbanglinux.org to crunchbang.org. http://corenominal.org/2011/11/26/updat … er-images/

I have an older Statler installation, and I was wondering how to get the public key for packages.crunchbang.org

Thanks.

Re: crunchbang.org repository

Because of some one the changes Corenominal made to the updated Statler, he recommends backing up your data and doing a clean install of the new iso.

If you still wanna try, this should work:

wget http://packages.crunchbang.org/statler-dev/crunchbang.key
sudo apt-key add ~/crunchbang.key

Re: crunchbang.org repository

Yup. I think that I have learned this the hard way. Things still run, but I'm having problems shutting down. I think Corenominal mentioned something about SLiM not liking his shutdown script.

I don't really have the time for a clean install, so I'll hobble along in the meantime.

Thanks for the warning and the help!

Re: crunchbang.org repository

There is a new and improved shutdown in the #! repo, just swap the old one for cb-exit.

Re: crunchbang.org repository

The new shutdown script doesn't use GDM like the old one, it now uses HAL. You can use slim with the new script, or gdm with the old script.

Re: crunchbang.org repository

Is there a way to retrieve all the default config files for a new account?

On my newly updated/hybridized system, I tried just making a new login and taking a look at all the automatically generated scripts, but they just looked like the old scripts to me.

Have a look in /etc/skel/    Is that what you're looking for?

Re: crunchbang.org repository

Tunafish: Yup, /etc/skel/  is what I was looking for. I've never heard of that directory before, but now I have read up on what it does. Learn something new ever day.

Thanks, everyone who commented. I would like to say that out of all the Linux forums in which I have asked for help, the Crunchbang forum has been my best experience.

As a follow-up on where I'm at with the problem, in the past few updates, many things have been breaking, so I'm giving up and starting from scratch on my machine. It's the first time Crunchbang has actually gone crunch bang on me, but I was really asking for it by mixing my repositories.

Thanks again.
