getting gtk-2.0 themes downloaded from gnome-look to work?

I have been trying do get this to work correctly ever since I have been using linux.  I have had some better luck with other themes than others, but they don't seem to look a 100% same as they do on the website.  I'm sorry if this is in the wrong section but the one thing I couldn't get working the most was the window manager to change to the theme.  I have both xfce and openbox installed on my computer and I'm using liquorix.
This is the theme I'm currently trying to get to work:  http://skiesofazel.deviantart.com/art/Azel-81227339

I have looked at the how-to and many other sites so please don't paste a link on here.  Also if I could get some simple steps and in detail I would be greatly appreciative.  Thanks!

Re: getting gtk-2.0 themes downloaded from gnome-look to work?

Hello,

I have extracted the folder to a location of my choice - then inside this location, extracted the gtk folder content into  ~/.themes (each being in its own folder) and then ran lxappearance

If unclear, ask.

Edit: Maybe they look different, because they use Metacity on the screenshots?

thanks machine for all your help with everything.  Just a quick question before I start messing with things; is it bad to have 2-3 different theme switchers on one OS? ie. gtk-chtheme, gtk-theme-switch, xfce settings manager, lxappearance?  Also with having both openbox and xfce do they conflict with each other through the autostart process?

Re: getting gtk-2.0 themes downloaded from gnome-look to work?

No problems with it, I'm doing the same. Anyway the preferences are saved in a file named .gtkrc-2.0 and .gtkrc.mine (the latter is the one you can manipulate anytime, the other one is overwritten by lxappearance, so changes will not be persistent if you run lxappearance after changing the content)

Don't worry, XFCE4's Appearance tool is for xfwm, and  lxappearance/obconf for the things inside of Openbox. You can run openbox window decorations in XFCE4, too (openbox --replace)
