I booted an iso of lubuntu 3 days ago from a usb stick but when I saw all the gtk3 mess there too I fled in terror. That said I feel an urge to try chakra.
Go on, you know you want to.

Actually I don't. If I did I would have already, I don't mind having the apple logo as an avatar as a result. Which is why you will lose the bet: you underestimated the powah of KDE.

No one here underestimates KDE.
We just tend to underestimate its requirements and its penchant to start every damn thing with a K.

I'm just glad I appealed to your stubbornness enough to stop you from distro-hopping on a bi-daily basis

alright, another tiny bitmap font, inspired by the ubuntu font family, is done.
I just modded bitocra font, so making it went fast.

IMO this is alittle to hard. Don't know if it makes sense in english but here in Germany we would say that it will result in eyecancer

That looks nice! Do you have any idea how I can use that font in Konsole (KDE terminal)? KDE can not install nor use bitmap fonts, sadly

alright, another tiny bitmap font, inspired by the ubuntu font family, is done.
First impression: it's too spaced out horizontally
Here's a comparo.
Aaronbuntu is on top, followed by SGI-Iris, MonteCarlo, Terminus and the gigantic Artwiz-Smoothansi.
Credit @Doomicide for the display script
It's so wide I had to remove the wireless-signal-strength from my conky (bar on top) so that everything would fit.
Other observations based on 5 minutes of use. Purely personal opinion and not necessarily meant as criticism:
- No slashed zero
- The "i" isn't centered (too much to the left)
- Kinda "cartoony" ... like a cross between artwiz-glisp and Artwiz-lime-latin.
Will continue using it on the netbook for a while, but I doubt I'll be installing it on my main work comp right now. It just feels too widely spaced.
Still, much thanks for the offering, but as they say in Street Fighter, "K.O ....... Round Two, Fight!!"

You need to work on the spacing a little. Dunno, bring them closer to one another. This way, you have a pretty tiny font with spacing suited for a bigger, blockier one. All in all though, I like it http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2 … thing.html

Sorry for not noticing these till now,
@ gutterslob
..... Also how did you get scrot working good for you and what system are you running? Everytime I've tried to set up scrot I always can never get it to not freeze after a while. Its done it on every install I've tried. After a while it just freezes. I don't get it.
I've not had problems with ScrotWM with most versions. I mostly run a modded GRML (everything manually rebuilt via dpkg) or Arch, and I haven't had problems with ScrotWM, either with the version in Debian's repos or latest snapshots built from source (0.9.33 gave me some segfaulting, but the current 0.9.34 runs without problems). Did you check your logs to see what the freezes are related to? You could also post your query in the "Getting Started with ScrotWM" thread over at the WM/DE Talk section if you want.
@gutterslob yeah it was the ANSI colourscript thanks =] Could you post your edit? as suNjAcks zsh script doesn't show anything but the top bar black, red etc.
I'm on zsh too, btw... but I started bash (from within my zsh term) and it works fine here. Dunno... haven't checked yet, but iirc, @Anon had a similar problem (check that thread). You probably need to fix the color arrays to work on bash.
Anyways, here's my little mod
#!/bin/zsh
xdef="$HOME/.Xdefaults"
colors=( $( sed -re '/^!/d; /^$/d; /^#/d; s/(\*color)([0-9]):/\10\2:/g;' $xdef | grep 'color[01][0-9]:' | sort | sed 's/^.*: *//g' ) )
echo -e "\e[m
BLK RED GRN YEL BLE MAG CYN WHT
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────\e[0m"
for i in {0..7}; echo -en "\e[$((30+$i))m $colors[i+1] \e[0m"
echo
for i in {8..15}; echo -en "\e[1;$((22+$i))m $colors[i+1] \e[0m"
echo -e "\n"Last edited by gutterslob (2011-11-07 18:47:14)

The scrotwm from the Debian repos does have the tendency to lock up when you run applications that need gksu. Synaptic causes it to freeze at times. I don't mind though, I use gksu once a month, and the repo version is the only one that plays nicely with my graphics card and mplayer.

Interesting. It doesn't look like that on mine. I think this may be because I use "xft:bitbuntu" in .Xresources instead of "-*-bitbuntu". This allows it to do spacing based on the average character width, rather than the cell size (eh... it's complicated).
I'll see if I can do something to tighten it up as an X core font as well.

@ivanovnegro: My cdr drive is broken
@unia: gaia10 It's not that great, but I love the icons it has for the notification area. I might combine them with some other plasma theme like oxywin if I ever take the time to dig into plasma theming.

Quite easy: system settings => workspace => plasma theme => details. Happy theming!
