Tweaking acer aspire one d257 with pm-utils

Hey everyone I have been searching all over the internet about how to do this but haven't found anything concrete for my laptop.
Heres the .log

This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by pm-utils configure 1.4.1, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.66. Invocation command line was

  $ /etc/pm/power.d/pm-utils-1.4.1/configure

I'm not to literate on this kind of stuff so I really appreciate your help.  BTW I just unistalled pretty much all the other "pm" tools.  thanks.

Re: Tweaking acer aspire one d257 with pm-utils

Is there a special reason for compiling pm-utils instead of using the package from the repos?

Re: Tweaking acer aspire one d257 with pm-utils

none at all.  I just read somewhere here that someone did it with sucess.  Seems to be working better than the thread that shows how to increase battery life

Re: Tweaking acer aspire one d257 with pm-utils

pm-utils provides a framework for scripts in its directory and suspend/hibernate features. I don't think you'll get much out of compiling. That being said, you can do an

sudo apt-get build-dep pm-utils

which should take care of most dependencies.

Hey bud,
I finally got around to doing this and this is what I came up with.

root@crunchbang:/home/jason# sudo apt-get build-dep pm-utils
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list

Re: Tweaking acer aspire one d257 with pm-utils

from 'man apt-get'

build-dep
build-dep causes apt-get to install/remove packages in an
attempt to satisfy the build dependencies for a source
           package.

'sudo apt-get build-dep pm-utils' will install all dependencies for the source package 'pm-utils'.
Therefore you have to enable a source repository.
In a terminal window as root, or using sudo:

<edit> /etc/apt/sources.list

replace <edit> by your preferred editor.
I assume you are using #! stable
remove the '#' at the start of the line:

#deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main contrib non-free

save
still as root or using sudo:

apt-get update
apt-get -t squeeze build-dep pm-utils

should work. You need to specify target squeeze because the default target is 'statler'.
