Headphone issues :(

Hello, I've search around on some forums and also on google, but i cant really find out to solve the problem. I use a laptop and the built in speaker doesn't mute then I'm plug in my headphones. On the forums I've search on had the problem often been solved with plug in the headphones and then restart the x server or in some cases rebooting the complete system, some other have been solved by manually mute the built in speaker. None of these have worked or I have made something wrong, either way I would be more then thankful if someone could help me out.

it would be useful if you could post some info about your soundcard.
