Okay, so I just recently installed CrunchBang Linux, I have only been using the Linux system for a few weeks now and I'm starting to understand it.There are a few problems though.
1. When I boot up into Linux, if I don't go through Recovery, it just boots up into a black screen and I can't access a terminal or anything, it's just a black screen.
2. I have a Dual Boot system with Linux and XP, but I can't get it to let me access my other hdd. I can see it in the menu but it errors every time I try to get into it. Bakc when I had unbuntu, I had to just edit the menu.lst, but I tried doing that again, and all it does is let me see the hard drive, I can;t access it and it's not in the grub menu in the boot process.

Use a liveCD to boot and editing your menu.lst that way. Don't forget you have to be root to edit it. If that doesn't work try reinstalling grub with the liveCD.

I tried that, but every time I try to edit it, it tells me that there was an error because it couldn't create such and such. Also, how do I make it so I don't have to boot through the recovery system.

Okay. I actually got it to let me access my other hard drive, so all I need help with know is being able to boot normally.

I'm pretty sure all you have to do is reinstall grub. It's not hard but I don't remember the exact commands so just look around on google and the ubuntu forums and you should find good instructions pretty easilly.
