Statler: long-term support?

How long do you offer support?
Simultaneously with debian squeeze?

Re: Statler: long-term support?

I need to know for sure whether CB Statler will receive updates until the release of Debian Wheezy (stable 7), or until the final death of Debian Squeeze 6.

I think the support for Debian 6 will continue even after the release of Debian stable 7 (usually continues for a couple of years).

Re: Statler: long-term support?

As pvsage said, it is up to corenominal, when it comes for the packages in the custom statler repository. The default debian packages will be supported until the next release (Wheezy) +1year as oldstable. Hope that helps.

Re: Statler: long-term support?

Most #! packages come from the Debian repos. These will of course be maintained for as long as Debian maintains them (usually 1 year after the next release).

A few packages come from the #! Statler repo (http://packages.crunchbanglinux.org/statler). Whether or not these packages are maintained over time is up to Corenominal, our fearless leader. Historically, he has focused most of his attention on developing new releases; for example if you look at the #! 8.04 repo, the last update was September 2008 (8.04 is supported until April 2011). It remains to be seen what the policy will be with regards to Statler. Already the Liquorix kernel is out of date (2.6.36-2; latest is 2.6.38) though it should be noted this kernel is purely optional and is not necessary for the proper functioning and enjoyment of your #! Statler system. smile
