I'm not a no0b to Linux, but I usually feel like one, so for a distro to offer as much user control as #! and still be so easy to use is a real accomplishment. I've had to make very few changes to my install, because it's just very intuitive the way that it is. I'm running it on an eeepc 701 in the US, so I've had to change the keyboard layout and add support for the volume key combinations. I think I still need to look into CPU scaling, but that's it for changes. Statler has been very cooperative so far, and information regarding it has been super easy to find and to understand. I think that means that I also owe thanks to the board members here for being so helpful to others that have had my questions before I did. Thanks guys!
I've been a bit Debian curious for a while, and wanted to try something different on my eee, so when I read a little about Statler, it seemed like the right thing to do. It was. I installed the Open-box version to an 8Gb micro SDHC card using an external cd/dvd drive. I've only ever used Ubuntu before, and I have to say; I really like the debian installer much better. I used seperate partitions for root and home. Both are ext4. I selected the "no access time" option, and installed the boot loader on the SD card also. It has been nearly flawless for about a week.
The only minor issues were the ones listed above and three others. 1. The initial software update took a LONG TIME. I don't even know how long, because I fell asleep several times. At least an hour though. The updates downloaded in less than five minutes, but took forever to unpack and configure. This happened during the assisted setup/first run program. 2. Every time I restart, wireless networking is disabled. I have to left click the network icon and check the box, then everything works great. It logs me into my hidden, encrypted network without any further interference on my part. 3. gPodder occasionally refuses to un-minimize for a while. Obviously that's not a CrunchBang issue.
If all final releases were as good as this Alpha the world would simply be a better place.
Lastly I just want to let you know that Statler also has a high Spouse Approval Factor (SAF). My wife laughed out loud at the name CrunchBang, nodded approval at the Muppet naming scheme, and liked using it when I had her try it out. Normally she is not a Linux fan, so this also says a lot. I think she's also amused by my joyful outbursts after successfully editing config files, so thanks to the forum members for that too.

SAF!!
And welcome to the forums, but I believe this thread is better suited for the Introductions forum?

Oh, I missed that one. This one said all Statler stuff, and it said please. I guess you're right though. It did turn out to be more of an introduction. I don't think I would be hurt if it were moved.
Thanks for the warm welcome.
