Volume Icon missing in tray. Tried EVERYTHING! [SOLVED]

Hi guys.

I know it's a frequent problem, and I read a lot about it. But this time, the volume icon disappeared, don't know the reason. I tried everything to solve this, but nothing works. I checked the Gnome-Volume-Control, checked out Alsa-mixer, checked the tint2, checked that volume is available in startup. But, when I try the volwheel, it does appear in the tray as long as I'm still opening the Terminal, when I close the terminal, the volume icon disappears again. Is there a solution guys ?

Thanks..

Use gmrun instead of the terminal to launch volwheel. Openbox menu > Run Program or press Alt-F2.

Also you might want to check your autostart.sh file to make sure volwheel is still listed in there.

Where can I find the autostart.sh? I am new to linux so have not learned to search with the terminal and maybe someone else can get use for a answer to this question? smile

Edit: Found it with the command "sudo Find / -name autostart.sh"

If you still have the standard openbox menu, it would be in (I believe) Settings > Openbox > edit autostart.sh, if you want quick access next time wink

btw: If you restart tint2, volwheel also dissapears, here's my dirty solution to restart tint2 while keeping volwheel.

Meh. Interested for a Dropbox alternative? Go to https://launchpad.net/tart

Thanks! It was a bit easier than to use the vi editor in terminal. Also I edited all autostart.sh I could find in the system that had something to do with bluetooth to start at startup. But it's enough to edit the openbox autostart? I give it a try again because had some problems now.

if you want to disable bluetooth, try rcconf. It makes it really easy to disable/enable services.
