[ABANDONED IN FAVOR OF MEDIA KEYS] obmixer with XF86 keybinds

I'd intended to use XF86 keybinds to let my vol +/- and mute buttons control obmixer, but I just realized I don't have a clue in hell as to what commands to invoke in rc.xml for that! Anyone knowledgeable around? smile

Edit2:
Screw it, I'll just do this instead. It's a bit of a pain, but I prefer having media keys only over obmixer only smile

<keybind key="XF86AudioLowerVolume">
      <action name="Execute">
        <command>amixer -c 2 set 'Analog Front' 2dB- unmute</command>

Can you right-click on VolWheel, select Preferences, and tell us what you see in the "Sound" box?

Re: [ABANDONED IN FAVOR OF MEDIA KEYS] obmixer with XF86 keybinds

This is what I see.
VW.jpg

I thought there might be a clue in its config (~.config/volwheel), but it shows nothing the GUI doesn't

Master
gnome-volume-control
3
simple-blue
/usr/share/volwheel/icons/volwheel.png
0

Edit:

I'll add that after looking through some other posts, I also tried another way; setting VolWheel's def. mixer to "xterm -e 'alsamixer -c 1'", with the def. channel "Analog Front", with no luck. CLI says it's unable to find the control. I haven't been able to tell whether it accepts what I tried with the mixer, though.

If the mixer GUI (the one you get if you left-click on VolWheel and click the Mixer button) shows PulseAudio in the Device field at the top, you're laughing.  If you PulseAudio installed it should be one of the options in that field.

You can change the sound device in the control panel that opens smile

Not meaning to backtalk a moderator, but that command (on my computer at least) brings up the same mixer as the Mixer button in VolWheel.

Yes that's correct and that's where you change the sound device that the control panel (and subsequently VolWheel) is pointing to and controlling. If this is what Savonlinna is already doing then perhaps there is a conflict somewhere with pulse audio itself. Alsa is a better bet if you can get it to fulfill your needs, then remove pulse altogether.

Edit: We were saying same thing... lol lol I should read threads more closely smile

Maybe try obmixer? Supposedly it works with PulseAudio.

Edit:
Up and running, thanks anonymous! Now, however, I've got another issue, albeit of less annoying character. Edited my original post.
