Hello , ( and again , sorry for my poor english )
I'm coding a little 'application launcher' for openbox ( but work on gnome/kde too ) in python [pygtk]
It remains a bit of cleaning to do, but it works! ( 1st beta in few days
)
Features : show/hide on click , always above other window , easy to configure color and size ..
Take a look : http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=fLxEGIbVf-s
Bye

ADcomp:: nice little application. I feel that new users will find this kind of tray/launcher easy to use and easy to configure.
TIP.
Some sort of balloon help with application name would guide the user as to what application will launch.
Have the Command and Icon selection box default to the commom command /usr/bin and common icon /usr/share/icons
It would be nice to have been double dared when I selected the log off icon. Instead blam I was logged off in a hurry. Could be changed to #! logout script.

I have to think if I really need this, but it's definitely easy to use and to configure.
And I agree with all that kestrel suggested.

HANNA (without "h" in the end) likes green and #!
Also know as ultraturquoise online / #! last.fm / #! DeviantART / U

me likes it. nice job u did.
kestrel made good points in his comment. First thing I missed was some kind of notification - I had to click on the icon to see what's the application.
It would be nice if you could use arpbook-square-icons instead of the included.
Anyway, excellent work for a just a little geek.

@semco, thanks for suggest, but, you just have to rename icon-folder to back up and use my icons instead.. anyway, thanks for support

Can windows be maximized over this launcher or does it permanently take up space?
It would be cool if this had hover effects like a dock program too

always above other window .. over only in this case : fullscreen ( like firefox or game )
but if you set 'HIDDEN_SIZE' egal 1 pixel , It works fine and don't take space .. 1 pixel

ADcomp: your little application launcher is about perfect for my sweetie. I'm installing #! over Ubuntu and plan to configure it for her. She just uses email and the web so something simple and clean will hopefully instill confidence in her.
Suggestion. It would be nice if the bar auto hide after a user defined interval if the mouse moved off of the bar.
Good job.

ADcomp,
Looks very good! I think it's better than wbar. I like the "empty" desktop but just a click to the frame area and the adeskbar is available.

Arpbook: I'm waiting for your new icons too!
Edit: Adeskbar works also well if you have a top conky. Great! http://www.flickr.com/photos/lotjak/3160284080/

Super cool. Thanks for implementing my input.
Yet another suggestion for next year. It would be quite handy to have a small area at the ends where the border was say twice as thick that was a hotzone where a right click would give access to the adeskbar-config and an about popup and maybe a link to the launchpad page. Maybe some other area could be made a hotzone or the whole thing maybe, right click anywhere on the bar.
I think this is perfect for my sweetie. Easy simple unobtrusive and best of all big fat buttons to click on.

Here is a screenshot of my Sweeties' setup. The "Logout" is the tooltip of the last button in the panel. The mouse was hovering over it but the screenshot software hides the mouse.

you should add an option to anchor the 'dock' to start/end positions. thats the first thing i change in OS X; dock on the bottom, anchored to the left (so it's in the bottom left corner instead of the middle).
