Details of operation of Cellular Modem

I've recently installed a cellular modem in my laptop, an Ericsson F5521GW. It's working quite well.
I'd like to know, however, how I can get more details about its operation. For example, I can run iwconfig, iwlist, etc to get information such as signal level and link quality of my wifi connection.
Does software exist that will do this for my cellular connection? All network-manager gives me is a little bar graphic.
