Hello, seems like i can't install nVidia 340.32 driver.
PC specs:
AMD Athlon 3000+ (x64)
1 GB RAM
nVidia GeForce GT240
Downloaded nvidia drivers are in "user/downloads" directory.
There is no "Additional Drivers" tab in Synaptic package manager.
Command "sudo apt-get install nvidia-current" is not working.
I tried this:
user@1:~$ service lightdm stop
lightdm: unrecognized service
user@1:~$ chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.32.run
chmod: cannot access `NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.32.run': No such file or directory
user@1:~$ sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.32.run
sh: 0: Can't open NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.32.run
As you can see, nothing worked.

Follow the advice given in the other thread:
https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsD … 2Wheezy.22
You're trying to do what I specifically said not to do...

This is why I use smxi(sgfxi) to handle nvidia. It also flags up potential problems with the latest driver. Just remember to do
sudo nvidia-xconfigbefore restarting x

Thanks for answers.
Also, i tried this:
sudo service slim stop
sudo chmod +x /home/user/downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.32.run
sudo sh /home/user/downloads/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.32.run
And it showed me this (3 pictures i took with phone): http://imgur.com/a/VUEGd#0
I uninstalled gcc 4.7 and installed gcc 4.6, now it says that no gcc installed at all!

^ Good work, well done: here's one for the FUBAR file...

I can't help with your gcc issue, but I repeat
This is why I use smxi(sgfxi) to handle nvidia
Not everyone agrees with me about smxi, but it has been the only way to consistently update nvidia on my system (given the level of expertise I have

@damo: sxmi certainly seems a better option than what the OP actually did (after I told him not to 3 times)...

Okay, i've installed nvidia drivers using smxi by this instruction:

BUT now, after this, i cannot change keyboard language!!!
What to do?
