Hello everybody! New to crunchbang, love it; the first issue I've not resolved through man files and search engine is:
I've a Dell Latitude D620 laptop with nvidia drivers installed. I have a Dell 1907FPc monitor with both VGA and DVI connectors. I set up dual monitors with the Screen Layout Editor, apply the layout, and the external monitor immediately is in power save mode. When I fiddle with the settings buttons on the monitor it displays a helpful message saying that it is in power save mode and that I should press any key on the PC, which has no effect.
When I type in:
david@aush:~$ xrandr --output VGA --auto
I get:
warning: output VGA not found; ignoring
whether the external monitor is set as active in the Screen Layout Editor or not.
The same monitor works fine with crunchbang on another laptop, a Toshiba.
From this link and others like it I gather that Dell monitors have some internal power save feature that maybe isn't working right out of the box with crunchbang & this hardware, but I don't have the expertise to diagnose. What should I do?
