Hi, I have a pc that I want to upgrade the CPU, currently it has AMD Athlon 64 3000+ the Mobo only supports Socket 754 is their anywhere I can buy a better processor for this socket?

Just knowing th Socket and what you have currently isn't enough, you need to know the maximum processor that your motherboard can use.
If you can post what IT is, I can see if I can find out the relevant details, then find a better CPU.

I have no idea even how to find out what the maximum this board can take, this rig was built by a friend of mine like 2-3 years ago and I no longer keep in contact with him. I don't even have any manuals or paper work the mobo just a chipset driver cd.

It's a real biotch to find out the motherboard details, believe me.
Why are you wanting to upgrade?
Athlon64 3000+ ain't a bad CPU

I know it's not a bad model but it is only 2.0ghz and I want a little more like 2.5ghz or higher

You can run "sudo dmidecode" in a terminal. Under "BIOS Information" your motherboard will likely be listed.
Also socket 754 is really old. I mean really old. I would save up and just get a new system if you need it so bad.

Yeah, you're gonna have a hard time finding a "new" socket 754 processor. You could just deal with what you got, which really isn't that bad (especially if you're running #!) or give up and get a new PC.
