I've noticed in the desktop screenshot thread that tint2 is becoming more and more popular now that it's systray has stabilised and doesn't have the transparency issues it was experiencing. With more people beginning to take it on as a default panel I thought it might be a good idea to share our config files.
Try to keep this thread for posting config files and discussion about them. For general support and help with tint2 see this thread

Config for the vertical tint2 in screenshot i posted here:
Thanks!
I can't get it to load vertically on the left, though. In fact, in the manual in /usr/share/doc/tint2, this is what's given about panel position:
panel_position = vertical_position horizontal_position
value for vertical_position : bottom, top
value for horizontal_position : left, right, centerNo mention of orientation at all.
Which version of Tint2 are you using? (The one I tried, I got through a 'sudo aptitude install', that is, the one in the Crunchbang repos. Are you using the one in the Tint2 PPA on Launchpad?)

Read about it here:

Basically you can use tint2's padding for executing your window manager's mouse bindings (like Openbox right-click for menu or middle-click for desktops).

Thank you anonymous. I get it now. That could be handy for a netbooks limited screen realestate.

I'd like to see a taskbar_active_background_id config option, so you can set the current taskbar (desktop) to standout from the rest.
And also a "show window menu" option in addition to "iconify", "close", "rollup" etc, etc., for clicks on a task.

my tint2:
Oh all right, I lied. I mocked up the desktop name label on each panel to see what it would look like - one problem with tint2 is if you don't have any tasks on a desktop, there's no indication of which desktop is the current one, and if you're in single_desktop mode, there's no indication which desktop you're on at all
Looking into if it's possible/how easy it would be to hack into reality. Of course a simple taskbar_active_background_id option would partly solve the problem for multi_desktop users, but that wouldn't be nearly so cool, and much too easy.

OK, not so difficult to get a prototype working - a tribute to thilor77 that even a dunce like me can understand and use the tint2 code. My prototype correctly reads the desktop names from the WM, but fonts/colours are stolen from the task config at the moment. Obviously one problem is the labels show through the tasks if you have a lot of transparency.

And vertical:

Not sure I like the rotated text, I just wanted to see it could be done.
As an aside, vertical bars always scan top-bottom, and horizontal bar left-right. I would think specifying "bottom left vertical" should make your desktops read up the screen? Though maybe going backwards horizontally wouldn't make sense. Unless you're using arabic?

thanks illuminate. I cheated, and added to the tint2 code. Not sure if thilor77 will be interested in my ropey hack, but I intend to polish it (a relative term) and let him take a look for consideration at some stage, but I don't mean to step on any toes. In the meantime, it works for me, I might shove a deb, or just the source code, online somewhere if anyone else is foolish enough to want to try it out.
