Internal Mic Problem Aspire One 110

Dear all,

I'm just new to linux, and also to crunchbang. Ive installed #! on my aspire one, and everything seems to work just fine (after doing the compete - aspire one howto on the wiki page).

However my mic seems not to bee working.

Here is the output of the amixer contents command:
numid=2,iface=MIXER,name='Master Playback Switch'
  ; type=BOOLEAN,access=rw------,values=2
  : values=on,on
numid=1,iface=MIXER,name='Master Playback Volume'
  ; type=INTEGER,access=rw---R--,values=2,min=0,max=64,step=0
  : values=60,60
  | dBscale-min=-64.00dB,step=1.00dB,mute=0
numid=7,iface=MIXER,name='PCM Playback Volume'
  ; type=INTEGER,access=rw---RW-,values=2,min=0,max=255,step=0
  : values=255,255
  | dBscale-min=-51.00dB,step=0.20dB,mute=0
numid=3,iface=MIXER,name='Mic Boost Capture Volume'
  ; type=INTEGER,access=rw---R--,values=2,min=0,max=2,step=0
  : values=0,0
  | dBscale-min=0.00dB,step=20.00dB,mute=0
numid=5,iface=MIXER,name='Capture Switch'
  ; type=BOOLEAN,access=rw------,values=2
  : values=on,on
numid=4,iface=MIXER,name='Capture Volume'
  ; type=INTEGER,access=rw---R--,values=2,min=0,max=31,step=0
  : values=25,25
  | dBscale-min=-15.00dB,step=1.50dB,mute=0
numid=8,iface=MIXER,name='Digital Capture Volume'
  ; type=INTEGER,access=rw---RW-,values=2,min=0,max=120,step=0
  : values=60,60
  | dBscale-min=-30.00dB,step=0.50dB,mute=0
numid=6,iface=MIXER,name='Input Source'
  ; type=ENUMERATED,access=rw------,values=1,items=2
  ; Item #0 'i-Mic'
  ; Item #1 'E-Mic'
  : values=0

And here is the output of the amixer -v command:
amixer version 1.0.17

Excuse me if i havent posted all nessicary information, as i've said before, i'm completely new to linux. I've tried to search on this forum and via google, but haven't found any usefull info.

It is possible that something really simple is wrong (mic muted?) but I do not know how to see/fix this.

Thanks in advance for your time!

Re: Internal Mic Problem Aspire One 110

This is probably not the answer you're looking for but..... I couldn't get my internal mic to work either. Ubuntu 8.10 showed me it's definitely possible, but I had no clue how to fix it. My solution... f*** it, just buy a cheap external mic / headset and wait for  the real linux guru's to fix it properly in a new ubuntu / #! version....

Audio

All the audio worked out of the box for me with no problems using suspend. The only tweak I had to do was to enable the microphone in the mixer.

   1.
      Right-click on the desktop and go to “Sound & Video → Volume Control”.
   2.
      Click on “Preferences” and then check “Capture” and then click “Close”.
   3.
      Adjust the sound levels as required from the volume control panel.

Re: Internal Mic Problem Aspire One 110

Thanks for your answers.
Obviously I have already done what it said in the FAQ (howto). But automatically it keeps muting the mic again. Although I got to the sound settings via a different way (super-v) and then went to 'capture' to enable it. I suspect I must go somewhere else to fix this.

Hopefully somebody has the real trick!

Take care,
Ton

Re: Internal Mic Problem Aspire One 110

yes, no problems with the webcam whatsoever. And I didn't even change drivers or anything else....

By the way, the uname -a command comes with the following information: (maybe this helps to fix my mic problem)

Linux ton-netbook 2.6.28sickboy-kuki #2 SMP PREEMPT Wed Feb 4 16:14:05 EST 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

Re: Internal Mic Problem Aspire One 110

aaaaaaarggg I feel so stupid now.....

everything was already setup correctly. the problem was skype itself.

in the skype options menu, sound devices tab, i just had to change the input source from default to 'HDA intel'

quite stupid.... hopefully this fixes someone elses mic problems as well ;-)
(internal web-cam-selection is also there)
