Automatically adding links to newly installed programs to openbox menu

I find myself missing the option of KDE where it automatically adds links to newly installed programs to the KDE menu, so that launching newly installed apps is a breeze. Is there a similiar option for openbox? I find it time consuming to add links to the GUI menu manually for all programs that I install from apt or synaptic.
