The player is detached and when its in full screen mode i cant get the On Screen display to work.
I have googled it,,But have no clue on how to fix it.

As far as getting a new one,,Ill admit This site https://launchpad.net/~freshmedia/+archive/ppa is over my head,,,I uninstalled vlc and then ran the command from Video Lan hoping to install new one,,,But i think it just installed old one,,Still no on screen display.
I fixed it tho,,,I downloaded Totem.:lol::lol:

If you ever feel like trying VLC, heres how you add the PPA:
1. Open /etc/apt/sources.list as root in leafpad or other editor
2. Add this line at the end:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/freshmedia/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main3. Run this command in a terminal:
sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 40B62BF84. In a terminal run this:
sudo apt-get update5. Now just install (or upgrade) VLC.

Thank you again for explaining it to me,
