I thought it was a new feature also,,,But theres no on screen display when you watch it in full screen.
I miss that,,So i googled it,,,Thats when i read this,,
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1149578

As far as getting a new one,,Ill admit This site https://launchpad.net/~freshmedia/+archive/ppa is over my head,,,I uninstalled vlc and then ran the command from Video Lan hoping to install new one,,,But i think it just installed old one,,Still no on screen display.

I fixed it tho,,,I downloaded Totem.:lol::lol:
Now i have an on screen display,,LOL

Re: VLC player detached in 9.04

If you ever feel like trying VLC, heres how you add the PPA:

1. Open /etc/apt/sources.list as root in leafpad or other editor
2. Add this line at the end:

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/freshmedia/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

3. Run this command in a terminal:

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 40B62BF8

4. In a terminal run this:

sudo apt-get update

5. Now just install (or upgrade) VLC.

Thanks for trying,,,When i try to install VLC threw terminator or Package manager it says i have broken packages..Im going to try to remove code from source list,,Then update and try again..LOL

Or ill try to figure out whats missing and go from there.

Edit: I removed

deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/freshmedia/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main

from sources list and it installed fine,,,Im not sure why,,But it didnt work.

Any ideas will be apreciated.

I removed code from source list,,Then reinstalled no problem,,,But decided to give it another try,,,Damn i screwed it all up....LOL:lol:

I did a apt-get -f install and still run into errors.and it wont let me install it.
Back to Totem i go,,,LOL

I know how ill fix,,Ill wait till 9.04 is ready for download ,,,LOL

Thanks for helping me with this.

Edit::This is what i ended up doing,,,,,Auto clean,,autoremove,Rebooted,,Went into synaptic removed anything that said VLC,,,removed files in broken,,,Made sure code was removed from source list,,,Then reinstalled vlc,,It seems good now,,,But still the same issue of no on screen display...

Im sure theres a way to do it,,,But my linux skillz are week tonight lol:lol:
