[skype] getting weird errors in Terminal...

but then again sometimes it works and then it doesn't and then it works again... aaargh

So I've managed to install skype via this old thread here;

And now I'm having troubles with my mic... somehow got it to work via pavucontrol...
and then I can talk for like 2minutes and then I'm getting this in the terminal.

ALSA lib conf.c:4687:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters CARD=PCH
ALSA lib control.c:951:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default:CARD=PCH
ALSA lib conf.c:4687:(snd_config_expand) Unknown parameters CARD=PCH
ALSA lib control.c:951:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default:CARD=PCH
ALSA lib conf.c:3314:(snd_config_hooks_call) Cannot open shared library libasound_module_conf_pulse.so
ALSA lib control.c:951:(snd_ctl_open_noupdate) Invalid CTL default
skype: hcontrol.c:326: _snd_hctl_find_elem: Assertion `hctl && id' failed.

And that last line is when people try to call back to me on skype, skype just quits... great... anyone know what these errors mean - doesn't look good though?

Re: [skype] getting weird errors in Terminal...

In pavaucontrol go into input tab. And switch to correct mic(on my rig i have an internal one and external one) . I have to do this every time i reboot or make a call on skype

Hope this helps

well... erhm... not really a solution there, now is it?

btw I did manage to make a call - it just crashed when someone came online... also those errors in the terminal really don't look too good... hmm

Hmk - changed the title of this topic, I can get my mic to work - it's the errors I'm getting that don't seem so OK to me...

not going to jump around happy now - but I think I fixed it last night... tried removing pulseaudio again... fingers crossed that it keeps working...

Re: [skype] getting weird errors in Terminal...

I haven't fully troubleshooted this with #!, but it looks like maybe there isn't the correct supporting libraries. By chance are you running x64?

Skype is 32 bit, and so you might need to add 32 bit libraries that it can work with.

The solution found in this thread for Debian worked for me (While I was running Xubuntu 13.04):

http://community.skype.com/t5/Mac/Debia … 149#M33272

To summarize:

apt-get install libasound2-plugins:i386

which installs 32 bit versions of various sound things.
