Terminal welcome splash

For my first venture into scripting I thought I'd keep it simple (very simple indeed). Its an ascii art CrunchBang splash that shows for two seconds when the terminal window is first opened, before clearing and returning you to your bash prompt.

Nice...(*strikes sinister look.)  You know what would be really cool, if at the bottom of the ASCII art it would switch colors and give some simple info about the Kernel you're running, what architecture your processor is, and perhaps the time and date.

(Hint, it's possible in 1 little line of code.)
