Hi,
I have installed Crunchbang some time ago. The problem I have is actually from the beginning, but since then had not had time to ask you for help.
The problem, basically, is that everything is very slow. It takes enough to perform various tasks. Especially when I require to use software that use more resources, such as Inkscape. And the use of video makes everything slower.
As in reality I have no idea what the problem is I do not know what information would serve to give me a hand. The computer is an Athlon 64 3200 +, AMD, NVIDIA 5500. Let down also some other details.
Sorry for my English.
Thanks!

I didn't see in the post what video driver is being used. On my machine there is a massive difference between using the proprietary nvidia driver vs the nv/nouveau/whatever.

new to crunchbang.
my first linux kernel build was on a 386-16sx with 6MB SIPP RAM ($50/MB!)

There are several monitoring tools available to find out if your system is memory bound, i/o bound, cpu-bound, network-bound...
Start with top and iomon.
Test your network speed.
Search your log files for error messages.
Have you tried other linux distros? How does #! compare?
Etc...

Perhaps you changed your openbox autostart file? Every command in there must run in the background - end with an &

everything is ok with the autostart file:
## Openbox autostart.sh
## ====================
## When you login to your CrunchBang Openbox session, this autostart script
## will be executed to set-up your environment and launch any applications
## you want to run at startup.

## More information about this can be found at:

Agreed.. This looks like the same issues I had about a year ago with a bad batch of nVidia drivers and the version of Xorg at that time not playing together at all.

Perhaps best use smxi to see what it suggests as driver.
You seem to have version 295.59 while current version is 304.60.

^ as a footnote to that, I was having problems on several nVidia machines with those current drivers ...sluggish, cpu and ram spikes, and 20 seconds at times just to select text and scrolling nightmares..
I updated to the nVidia Beta drivers 310.14 today and all those issues are now gone.

You either have synaptic (or some other installer up) or you need to run as root.
I'll assume you need to run as root.
open a terminal and run
su(This assumes that root is enabled in #!. I can't remember if it is.)
then run
if you need zip then
apt-get update
apt-get update
apt-get update && apt-get install unzipInstall smxi
cd /usr/local/bin && wget -Nc smxi.org/smxi.zip && unzip smxi.zip && smxi"Sometimes I wish I hadn't taken the red pill" -Me

thanks hinto, i know that you said, the problem is that isn't work, for that problem with /var/lib/dpkg
and i don't have open any installer up...

Done E: Could not open lock file "/ var / lib / dpkg / lock" - open (13: Permission denied)
Means that either dpkg or apt-get isn't running as root (or that another application like synaptic has it open)
Replicate the steps (including apt-get update) and post what you have.
smxi is a fairly straightforward script and I suspect you have a typo.
