[SOLVED] Cannot add Skype account in Pidgin

Looks like pidgin-skype is broken among several distors, cause it works in none of them and I still wonder why does not anybody even try to report this, or am I wrong?
After trying to add a skype account I get a window with a login field to put my skype nickname into and no password field. The very same issue was troubling arch, ubuntu and other distors I used.
I've found some suggestions to go and install the pidgin-skype plugin right from svn, but I don't like this idea. I want this thing to work from repos.
Does anybody know how to get this thing working and why does it not work from the repo?

^ Are you using #!/Debian stable?  If so, it is very unlikely to eve get it to work from the repos.

svn build is fairly easy as long as all the dependencies are met.  The readme in the svn pull should have all the info needed to successfully build it.

I see, guess no option than to use it straight from svn.

Oh, just found out that you need a skype running to make this plugin work. Don't understand. Why do I need pidgin if I have a skype running?

Anyway, here is the link to the newer version of the plugin. It didn't work out for me. Pidgin segfaulted, so be warned.

^ That looks normal, did it create a directory in your /home called skype4pidgin-read-only?

If it did it was successful

If it did it was successful

this was a link to an old svn branch I guess. CHANGELOG tells me last fix was jan 2010, which is far from being fresh svn checkout)

I think I shall just download skype deb from their official site.
Since I still need it to make that plugin work ^^
