I am new to crunchbang, so I beg pardon for a simple question:
As I see, stutler is based on debian6, waldorf is to be based on debian7wheezy/unstable
I have both crunchbang-versions running, meanwhile as user I don't see any differences; ok, thunar is working better now, but that is not the stuff
So what will be the advantage of waldorf, beside being more actual?

Waldorf is based on Testing so you will have more current applications. There are also additional apps that corenominal has included in this release. All reports are that every thing is running smoothly and every one seems to be happy with the release.

A good analogy, say in example that you buy a Mercedes-Benz, same model, from 2010 or from 2012. They are the "same car" but some details are not, some improvements are expected, cosmetic or performance wise. The update should bring something better. In general, corenominal posts this changes on the News and Announcements sector: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/forum … uncements/

Also, and this is completely non-technical, just to keep track of things, it helps to know the naming conventions of Debian and CrunchBang. Debian's naming convention is based on characters from the animated movie "Toy Story" (and the testing side of Debian is called Sid, who was the kid next door with all the weird, hybrid toys). CrunchBang's naming convention is based on characters from "The Muppet Show" starting with the same letter as the Debian release name upon which the CrunchBang version is based.
So you have Squeeze = Statler (one of the old guys in the balcony on "The Muppet Show") and Wheezy = Waldorf (the other old guy in the balcony on "The Muppet Show"). I'm hoping someday that there will be a Debian release with the code name beginning with "B" so we can have Beaker . . .

@Larry: Although Philip has never discussed this particular aspect of the naming convention - I think it may be the #! forum's equivalent to "epileptic trees" - I think the congruent first letters for Statler/Squeeze and Waldorf/Wheezy may just be a coincidence. I know I was already expecting Waldorf would be the name for the second Debian-based #! sometime before I heard that Debian 7 would be Wheezy, simply because Statler & Waldorf are always seen together.

So you say, pvsage. Not to be a conspiracy theorist or anything, but I think it's too coincidental for the naming convention to be otherwise (and if it is coincidental, I think we're on to something, even if it's a mnemonic device). I don't want to derail this thread, though.
