I'm a fairly new to Linux and completely new to CrunchBang. I have tried a few distros trying to get the right balance of speed, size and the ability to do what I need to use it for. Currently I am dual booting and have Mint 13 installed but I am looking for something a bit more "seat of your pants" experience to learn a bit more about Linux on another partition.
I've run #! from a LiveUSB and it looks excitingly different but I fear my abilities, even with help, may not be up to installing, configuring and maintaining it. So sorry in advance if I annoy you all posting questions with obvious answers to everyone else.
Thanks.

hey Brianrh, welcome to the community. there's no need to be afraid. things often appear more daunting than they actually are. Crunchbang will work fine without any real maintenance. there isn't any real configuration needed, except of course when something doesn't work. but saying it is a difficult distro is a big exaggeration.
so, my advice: chill out, install #! on your partition, play with it, hang out here, feel good about yourself
if you're looking to learn some more Linux-stuff, check out the links in my signature. 'the absolute basics' for basic terminal stuff, and 'bash' for anything bash-related.

Thanks rhowaldt.
I checked out your links and there is some interesting stuff there. I'll have a better look through tonight but I think it is going to take a while to read through it all. I hope your not going to be asking questions afterwards

Welcome to #!
Don't worry so much about being annoying... If they'll put up with me, they'll put up with almost anyone.

CrunchBang installed and running very nicely. Haven't started installing the additional packages I need yet so wait for the questions.
It's good to be aboard.
