i am new and have just switched over to #! from windows. i have tried debian before and liked it. i am sure i will have many issues in the coming weeks. but the first one i would like to solve is how to get my soundcard to work. i have browsed the forums looking for ways to get it to work. i have even followed the guide on the alsa website. i have come to no solutions.
i have even read in the ubuntu forums.
when i type in lspci -v my sound card shows up. i am not sure how modprobe works but the snd-oxygen comes up. so i assume that the module is installed. i have even added snd-oxygen to the /etc/modules and that doesnt work.
could anyone give me any insight on what to do? in the mean time i will keep looking
thanks
edit: oh and i am using #! 64 with backports using kernel 3.2.0

Follow instructions from this link, please

Oh, and please remove the output from lsof you posted. It is not relevant here. My mistake.
I wrote 'lsof', but I meant 'lsmod'. Sorry for the trouble.

You have 2 sound cards but none seems to be recognized by alsa.

No card is recognized, but tke kernel modules for both cards are loaded, and I guess create a conflict.
I have found similar reports on the net, but none with a solution. So we will have to use try and error:
Try appending
options snd-hda-intel index=-2to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
and reboot.
If sound is still not working, edit your $HOME/.asoundrc to what is mentioned in this page: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index. … ule-oxygen
Run the script from my post #8 again, and post the link, please.
