Has anybody else been following the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year and if so what are your thoughts?
I don't game much anymore because the reasons why I use to game (to see a well told story unfold) seem to have been replaced by online multiplayer/ DLC. Still, I enjoy following the medium and occasionally weigh in with my opinion.
So far it's been a pretty typical year, lots of sequels/ reboots of various franchises we all thought over, like Halo and Gears of War, as well as Microsoft desperately trying to convince people to buy a goddamn Kinect. Sony is largely following the same suit, introducing their own version of the Super Smash Bros. with their exclusive console characters.
Nintendo is probably the most anticipated because they're the only ones who look like they're releasing a new console this year and getting a head start on the 8th Generation of Video Games. With a tablet-based controller that can be its own screen and a more powerful system that can handle the games the Wii couldn't, it seems Nintendo is trying to recapture the hardcore gamers who abandoned the company for Sony or Microsoft.
There's also some interesting new tech announcements like the Xbox Smartglass that lets people sync their Xbox 360 with their smartphone/ tablet, essentially making it a controller or something. Sony is apparently launching some kind of mobile service of their own but I haven't really looked into the details for that yet.

That has a list of all the games featured and some more detail about the various revealings that I either don't know about yet or don't feel like mentioning.
So yeah, that seems to be what's up for 2012/13
