Re: sound/alsa INPUT issue - getting a bit stressed out - solved

hey i gotta go out to my FSFE meeting now but here is my alsa as an imagebin http://imagebin.org/209854

As you can see, stuff is on - I can even hear feedback from the mic in my headset when i turn the mic volume up higher.

However, if you look at only the capture options, and not all, as above, its like this

http://imagebin.org/209855

no amount of clicking or shouting or key pressing as been able to alter this menu, other than the one volume bar. Not sure what is wrong. I can switch of the L and R things using 0 and . on my number pad, otherwise  not much happens sad any idea?

Re: sound/alsa INPUT issue - getting a bit stressed out - solved

'Capture' is not on for 'Mic'.
Use arrow keys to position on 'Mic', then press space bar to toggle activation.
(use F1 key to get help - space = toggle capture)

Re: sound/alsa INPUT issue - getting a bit stressed out - solved

ah, i see. Its took me a while to figure out which capture you meant, I had turned it on in the capture menu, but it was still disabled in the all menu. This is a very strange setup!!

Thank you so much for your help, I am sorry it has taken a long time to solve what is actually a simple problem. Doesn't help that I didn't understand what toggle meant. In england, toggle is a thing on the strings of your raincoat hood!
