Re: crunchbang on Atom n2600..

Welcome to the forums! It is unlikely a Debian Squeeze based distro with 2.6.32 kernel will support your newer hardware well. The focus of CrunchBang is to provide older software that is very stable and well-tested.

However, some users on the forum have upgraded to backports/testing/unstable to get newer software: http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/forum … gunstable/

Backports has newer kernels, but the current one in backports is 3.2.  Maybe 3.3 will be there soon?

Maybe, but they could just as easily skip over 3.3 entirely and wait for 3.4 or 3.5. Debian is not a "rolling release" distro as you know.

Kernel 3.3 is even not yet in Sid. So, you would have to wait if you really want Debian, at least Testing/Unstable, as for #!, only the Debian gods know when Hera will born a newer kernel from backports. smile

Aehm, on topic:

3.3 is in experimental now (well at least the rc), the weird CPU usage aside it is actually quite usable.
