I've read several posts on how to autostart applications in the tray.
Tomboy doesn't appear to have a --minimise option that can be added to prevent the application opening in full screen when I first log in.
Anyone know how to do this with Tomboy?

^ Wow ... I was going to load Tomboy to test because as I recall it has systray capabilites but the requirements are too steep:
binfmt-support cli-common libdbus-glib1.0-cil libdbus1.0-cil libgconf2.0-cil
libgdiplus libglib2.0-cil libgmime2.6-cil libgtk2.0-cil

mono-runtime tomboyAccording to this page, there are options to use it in a system tray but it may be contingent on Ubuntu's Indicator applet
I used another one a while back, but cannot recall it.. Will search and find it and report back

Found it... It is Gnote which is a port of Tomboy and has a lot less requirements and does have panel support
apt-get install gnote
The following extra packages will be installed:
libgtkmm-3.0-1 libpanel-applet-4-0 libpcrecpp0
