Claws & Gmail

First, a Huge thank you to everyone involved at #! and particularly for CrunchEee (Should that be #Eee?).

I'm away from home at the moment, and during an routine "update" my 901 crashed like a windows box, bitchin' about lack of space. Long story short, I _had_ to rebuild with something, didn't have my rescue disk - or my USB-DVD drive. Installed CrunchEee from a borrowed 1GB USB drive, and - well here I am!

Now, on to my question.

I pretty much now have Claws working how I want it, however, the icon in the panel always shows incorrect figures, because it adds the figures from my inbox, and the googlemail "all mail" folder. I really want for Claws to totally ignore the "Google Mail" folder and its subdirectories - in fact, I'd be happy if it wasn't even displayed in the list.

For info, I'm using IMAP rather than POP3 with gmail. I am also using Notififcation, and GtkHTML2 plugins (boy it took a long while to work out why I couldn't display images!)

Thanks,

Re: Claws & Gmail

I think what you want to do is to enable Labs in Gmail and turn on the Advanced IMAP Controls add-on.

Re: Claws & Gmail

Thanks Zap - I'll have a look at that, but I've partially solved my problem.

I wanted not to have to mark as read, messages in the inbox, and also (the same messages) under the Google mail - all mail folders. It just annoys me, to have to do things twice, and equally, it annoys me having the tray icon showing unread mail - if I don't mark them as read.

I have "Unsubscribed" to the main "Google Mail" and sub folders - it still shows in the list, but shows 3 zeros, and doesn't increment when I get new mail.

So that's half the battle - the other half is that the counter counts not only the contents of the inbox, but the contents of the mail folders (or the labels as Google calls them), so this screws up the figures dramatically, for instance, I have a total of 3315 messages in my inbox, but the claws mail icon tooltip show a total of 13,381

I suspect that this is more to do with the Google implementation of IMAP than anything else, and I think I can live with it.

Ian
