Hello, I just recently joined CrunchBang and everything is going well but I do need some help with a couple things.
I downloaded pidgin and it seems to be working fine except when I add my facebook to it, It takes the facebook and says its connected and available but it does not show the facebook buddy list and every 45 seconds it says I disconnect and when i re-connect it, it says I am available again.
friends tell me that I am indeed online facebook through pidgin but I do not get their messages and I can not see my buddy list.
- I made sure the buddy list is available to viewing
-I got the plugins for xmpp (spelling?)
Any help to this situation will help greatly.
Thank you,

Try opening it from Terminal. From there you should get all the information that is causing it to fail.

VastOne, Thanks for the help
I do have a new error though and that is why I edited the thread to the new issue so if you or anyone else can help, it will be greatly appreciated.

Ok and now the error messages, where are they?
Seems you have a kind of timeouts.

Exactly no real error messages. Any reccomendations on what to do to fix this?

Maybe you could try pidgin from wheezy repository (attention: lots of dependencies - will upgrade many packages!).
Or you could add the following lines to your /etc/apt/sources.list and give it a try:
## pidgin repository
deb http://archive.progress-linux.org/progress/ artax-backports main contrib non-freeWorks like a charm here without any additional upgraded packages. Pidgin version is 2.10.1
I would suggest you give solution number two a try because you can easily revert your actions.
Just remember it is not suggested to mix repositories in that way but be that as it may it solved my problems which does not mean it could possibly break your whole system

Fab

Ok, I looked further on that issue and it seems the Facebook plugin is broken at least under Sid and needs yet to be fixed under Debian. As for OP's version I cannot test it.
