Hi all.
I have been using Linux professionally since 1995 and personally since 1991. I started with HJ Lu's boot/root floppies, then moved through MCC Interim, TAMU-2A, Yggdrasil, SLS and Slackware. In the mid-90's I started using Red Hat 2.1 then stayed with it through RH 9 then into Fedora (from 1 - 16). I've been at this long enough to know that distro wars are useless and counter productive, though. Now, Fedora has been moving towards more "modern" internals, which is just fine and dandy. But, being an Old Phart<tm>, I am more comfortable when things work the way I want them to. Fedora 16 is fine when it comes to hacking code and breaking things but it is giving me far to many problems to use as a regular desktop system. So off I went to see what was available in the world of Non-Microsoft OS's. After a while I happened on CrunchBang and it is just what I'm looking for.
Basically, that's my long winded way of saying hello and I am happy to be here.

Thanks for the warm welcome. So far I have been extremely impressed with #! Linux. Just got one little conky question so I'm off to find the best forum to seek an answer.

are you trying to insult me here pvsage? of course i know the Beatles, and the song, but that joke was just super-crappy, and machinebacon knows it full well

Yeah, he did work a little too hard for a rather dubious payoff there. I thought it was cute though.

^ well, in my book, anything machinebacon does or says is pretty cute. i spent some time thinking about why this is, and i figured it out: it is his avatar. he has this smile on his face that makes your heart melt, and makes you believe he's the nicest guy in the world (which, of course, is a blatant lie). i don't trust him.

damn you machinebacon, twisting my words around like that to make it seem i have a crush on you! i will learn python and build py-machinebacon, an app whose only purpose it is to come up with increasingly lame word-jokes! that'll teach you!

@SweetLittleRho: as long as the script detects the right number of syllables you can bash python
(ok that was a lame one)
Cordially
