Hello,
I've installed crunchbang linux two days ago and it's awesome, but i can not install wifi card on my lappy. I installed debian many timesbefore, but never had trouble with it. I've installed iwlwifi and wicd-curses and rebooted many times, but i cant initialize wlan0. It is not even listed in iwconfig.
I dont know what to do next. I can't use my lappy properly without internet
But I like this distro so much so I want to stick with it. I've been working on it since yesterday googling whole day but still nothing, so I beg of you, any help?
I am linux noob, but very big fan of it.

You said you've installed firmware-iwlwifi. Try doing
sudo modprobe iwlagnand see if that gets you anywhere.

If I use this command and I enter my password, it just skips the line and does nothing

Stupid question, after you modprobed the firmware, did you bring up your wireless interface? Enter these commands and post the entire output after the last command.
sudo modprobe iwlagn
sudo ifconfig pan0 up
sudo iwconfigIt's normal that you don't get any messages after modprobe, that's to be expected.

no, it makes no difference, here is what it does:

Ok i did this, but friend of mine fiured out, that this wifi card is supported in kernel v2.6.38 and higher. So i had to install debian kernel.
wget http://ftp.cz.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-headers-3.0.0-1-amd64_3.0.0-4_amd64.deb so i think i will have to go on with that kernel until next release.
Anyway I really appreciate ur help

You can just install the 2.6.39 kernel from the backports repository. Uncomment it in /etc/apt/sources.list, check my sig, apply it, and find and install the kernel and headers in synaptic.

thats weird. I have installeded kernal 2.6.32-5-amd64 and the wifi has worked "out of the box"
