Change time format from 24 hour time to am/pm time?

Does anyone know how to change the clock on the Tint2 panel into am pm time and not 24 hour time, I don't much like reading 24 time format.

Use "%-I:%M %P" which gets you HH:MM am/pm

Re: Change time format from 24 hour time to am/pm time?

where would i enter "%-I:%M %P" ???

i already know about time formatting, but unlike ubuntu, when i right click, it doesn't let me change the time formatting.

one pet peeve of mine is when i'm looking at a technical solution, and it assumes the person already completely knows what they're doing. this is another one of those situations.

Edit the tint2 config file (there's a link in the right-click menu).

Re: Change time format from 24 hour time to am/pm time?

yes. right click to bring up the main menu. under "Settings", then under "tint2", there is an "Edit config file" option, and in that, you should find the code:

# Clock
time1_format = %H:%M:%S

and after the equals sign, enter your time formatting, not in quotes. for example:

# Clock
time1_format = %-I:%M %P

additional time formatting codes can be found at http://linux.die.net/man/3/strftime

...the dash in front of the uppercase "i" apparently means "Do not pad a numeric result string", which i guess will save some space.
