[SOLVED] Tascam us-122

Hi,

I am quite new to Linux, Debian and crunchbang. I tried to install alsa drivers for my tascam us-122 soundcard, but something went wrong.

Has s.o. succeeded in having this working.

When I use the find command to lacte the drivers, this is the result:

anthony@StudioTest:/usr/share$ find / -name usx2y
/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.36-2.dmz.5-liquorix-686/sound/usb/usx2y
/lib/modules/2.6.36-2.dmz.5-liquorix-686/kernel/sound/usb/usx2y
/lib/modules/2.6.32-5-686/kernel/sound/usb/usx2y

This is my udev rule:

anthony@StudioTest:/etc/udev/rules.d$ ls
055_tascam.rules  70-persistent-net.rules  z60_hdparm.rules
anthony@StudioTest:/etc/udev/rules.d$ cat 055_tascam.rules
BUS=="usb", ACTION=="add", SYSFS{idProduct}=="8006", SYSFS{idVendor}=="1604",
RUN+="/bin/sh -c '/sbin/fxload -D %N -s
/usr/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader/tascam_loader.ihx -I
/usr/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader/us122fw.ihx'"
BUS=="usb", ACTION=="add", SYSFS{idProduct}=="8007", SYSFS{idVendor}=="1604",
RUN+="/bin/sh -c '/usr/bin/usx2yloader'"

and the files are on the right place:

anthony@StudioTest:/etc/udev/rules.d$ find / -name tascam_loader.ihx 2>/dev/null/usr/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader/tascam_loader.ihx
/home/anthony/downloads/tascam/alsa-firmware-1.0.24.1/usx2yloader/tascam_loader.ihx

anthony@StudioTest:/etc/udev/rules.d$ find / -name us122fw.ihx 2>/dev/null/usr/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader/us122fw.ihx
/home/anthony/downloads/tascam/alsa-firmware-1.0.24.1/usx2yloader/us122fw.ihx

The device is listed as a usb device:

anthony@StudioTest:~$ lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 1604:8006 Tascam US-122 Audio/Midi Interface (without fw)
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 04f2:b1d8 Chicony Electronics Co., Ltd
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
anthony@StudioTest:~$

but doesn't show up in Jack

All help is more than welcome.

It works on AV Linux, but I prefer #!

Re: [SOLVED] Tascam us-122

Hi, I have no idea about the Tascam soundcard (though I had an excellent Tascam 688 cassette mixing/recording console years ago cool ) but it seems to be a USB soundcard, and in this case your onboard soundcard is used as default.

Solution:
http://alsa.opensrc.org/Tascam_US-122  in the section "Audio Recording / Playback"

Good luck!

Re: [SOLVED] Tascam us-122

Thank you for your quick answer.

I added a .asoundrc file but it doesn't seem to work.

I'll recompile the alsa drivers, libs and utilities according to the alsa documentation.

I'll keep you posted on my progress as this can be interesting for lots of people.

BTW, on my small netbook (An Acer Aspire One D150), the studio distros are way to heavy, #! seems to be the best solution for a mobile studio.

Maybe I should use RT instead of Liquorix.

Re: [SOLVED] Tascam us-122

Found the solution to my problem on:

http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.p … 97526.html

I checked everything accordingly to those messages and found that I had a missing link in /lib/firmware/usx2yloader

sudo ln -s /usr/share/alsa/firmware/usx2yloader /lib/firmware/usx2yloader

In my case the problem is solved lol:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::D:D:D:D:D:D

Just playing E7#9, foxyyyyyyyyyyyy
