Warning: Complete newbie to Crunchbang
I installed #! from a CD. When installing I didn't have my internet cable plugged in. When installing, the installation couldn't find out the ethernet card type I had and it gave me a huge list of options. I didn't select any and I continued with the installation. Now when I plugged in my cable, it doesnt connect to internet. Clicking on 'nm-applet' only shows VPN connection. Any fix to this? Will live CD help get the drivers?

Your first step is to figure out what networking adapter you have. You could try running "lspci" in the terminal. Or you could boot from the liveCD and install sysinfo if your internet works during the live session. The thing about linux is, your mac address is compiled into the kernel when you install, so it was probably a bad idea not to choose your NIC during the installation.
