openoffice install

I am trying to install openoffice.org.  i tryed the included install script that is on the super+space menu.  it just says that there was a problem.  next i tried to use the synaptic package manager it says that it failed to download some of the files.  What do i do.  The problems are probably related.  the script probably cant download the file either.  has anyone else had this problem?  Thanks!
