Howdy

Where to start. Maybe it should be with how I found my way here. I've been a Linux user since about '97 (I think, maybe earlier) and have tried very distro under the sun with the exceptional of having a really good go at Gentoo (not sure why). In recent years I became a full time Linux user with Ubuntu using Hoary and became involved with the Ubuntu project as a staff member of their forums and dabbled a bit with some doc team work. I then progressed onto Arch at about or during the Dapper stage and left Ubuntu behind. I became a happy slack based distro user and spent time with Zenwalk for a while to. Eventually though my work situation changed to a total Mac environment and I lost touch with Linux for quite a while.

This year I found myself back in a PC environment so picked up an old trusty Ubuntu disc (8.0.4) again. I was impressed with how far it had come since I last used it but maybe because I'd grown used to not having to play to much with stuff any more with OS X, I found my way to Mint quite quickly and have been enjoying using it immensely. Then with the release of Intrepid I began to get restless with Mint and created my own version of Ubuntu with Mint tools added from a minimal base install. This got me thinking how nice it is to build a system up just the way you like, like I used to do in my Arch days, so I began looking around at what others were doing.

So here I am looking at Crunchbang. I plan to install the beta on a old machine tonight and all going well I'm thinking of doing a minimal install and testing the installer script as well. I may even play with the installer script a bit to see what will happen smile

Anyway it looks like I've found a nice project to get my teeth into and I look forward to getting to know some of you smile

Re: Howdy

Thanks for the welcome, I'm looking forward to getting to know Chrunchbang better. So far I've installed the 8.10 beta on and old ThinkPad and after a bit of tweaking all is running well. The only thing I'll probably change straight away is to use wicd instead of the default network manager, but that's just a personal preference. Nice distro smile
