So i was trying to get the microphone issue with skype sorted out. messed about with the mixer levels a great deal to no effect. And anyway, not working (i did something with pulseaudio in ubuntu before, some bizarre wee kludge that definitely didn't like it should work)
that's a seperate issue though. Now it just won't start up at all. I just put the settings back to normal and it was crashing out before it got a chance to login or anything.
I removed it and reinstalled and still the same issue.
This is the output from terminal after crashing out
andrew@shinybox:~$ skype
skype: pcm_null.c:130: snd_pcm_null_start: Assertion `null->state == SND_PCM_STATE_PREPARED' failed.
Segmentation fault
is this something to do with skype's great love of automatically adjusting the mixer settings? cos it wasn't giving me this last night

Hi apk5,
did you fix the issue already?
If not, please provide more information, e.g.:
Which #!-release / Kernel do you use?
32bit / 64bit ?
From where did you install which skype-package?
etc.
Did you delete the /home/USER/.Skype configuration file bevor you re-installed Skype?
My experience with a fresh installed #!-Statler 32bit and download the Debian packages from the Skape website is: works ootb. No hassle with any settings anymore.
Good luck!
