whoops
if you'd had just said you wanted a bootable usb-stick, I would've helped you.
Since you're asking me now to help you doing illegal stuff, that has changed.
Plenty of topics on this board telling you how to make a bootable usb stick, I suggest you search for those
depends on what's in your sources.list, but minidlna is in the repos (I'm running squeeze at home, and could just do 'sudo apt-get install minidlna')
Any specific reason you are compiling it from source?
edit: http://pkgs.org/download/minidlna <- you can also get it from there
whot ies dis pee es dee you are tolking aboot?
I'll do it for a ticket for a round trip Amsterdam - San Fransisco
good luck!
{snip} If you were cleaning a kitchen table that was dirty and had bacteria on - would you just use a brush and water? or would you want something that actually killed the germs as well? {snip}
prolly just the water and scrubbing. Germs and bacteria are not to be feared. Their function in nature should be understood.
In the case of a kitchen table; mine has a smooth surface -like most kitchen tables- so using water and a brush will get rid of 99% of bacteria. Any remaining bacteria will be in small enough amounts to not do real harm. Instead, my immune-system is trained and kept up-to-date.
I live in a first world country and live according to basic hygienic rules, so there's no real harm for me to get dangerously ill because of bacteria.
On the other hand, I brush my teeth twice a day for 3 mins, go to the dentist/mouth-hygienist every 6 months, and still have awful teeth...
(I was wondering what that spot on your cheek was...)
Hi! welcome
damn, I wish I went to a kindergarten where they discussed linux (even if they tended to go off-topic now and again)
http://mpd.wikia.com/wiki/Configuration#Remote_Playback
there's a lot more mpd-info there
The method by snowpine worked. I'm not sure what it did yet, but it did install firefox with the bookmarks from iceweasel. For some reason, firefox isn't in English, but maybe Dutch. I'm not sure about the language it's using. I'll need to look up the word for "preferences" and see if I can change the language there.
Thanks for the tip on updating the www-browser, Junkie. I had forgotten about those scripts. Heck. I may just leave it in this language. I can read most of it. "Boekmerke" for example is obviously "Bookmarks". :-)
that's not Dutch. Perhaps it's South African?
'Preferences' in dutch is 'instellingen' or 'voorkeuren'
no no, both ip's should be different, but they should both be issued by the same router.
This is my setup:
mpd.conf on server (server has ip 192.168.2.10, no password for mpd)
bind_to_address "192.168.2.10"
port "6600"phone (has ip 192.168.2.99)
in mpdroid -> settings -> connection settings -> WLAN based connection -> [pick your WLAN network] :
host: 192.168.2.10
port: 6600
That's all I needed to get it to work
Is your phone connected to the same router as your pc is?
If so, there's 99.99% chance they're in the same wlan network
@ my previous jobs we had several Asus Travelmates all running some flavour of linux, no problems whatsoever
anecdotal, I know, but still
wait, what?
And So I Watch You From Afar - A Little Bit Of Solidarity Goes A Long Way
some nice loud post-rock on this hot evening
actually, I haven't used a 'real' crunchbang for quite some time now. I start with a netinstall and install what I need. Crunchbang is still a guide of some sorts though....
the main programs/software I use are
i3
conky
dmenu
spacefm / doublecommander
luakit
sublime text 2
vlc
mpd
I hate the users, buncha obnoxious twits on their la-dee-dah high horse saying 'Linux is the best, I loooove corenominal' while everyone knows windows 8 is going to run circles around this hobby distro.
*clenches fists and grits teeth*
don't know how hot, but it's too hot
I think the default browser should be luakit, because that is what I use. A 'git pull && make && sudo make install' and I'm up-to-date again.
Of course, this can all change when I find a new browser that I like to play with.
Dutch is my ntive tongue, learned some english/german/french in school.
I live close to the german border and my mother used to love german krimi's (tatort and the like), so that's where I learned more german. English I learned mostly from tv (everything is subbed here), and since a was/am a bookworm I started checking out english books from the library, too.
Went a few months to sweden as an exchange student, and found out that scandinavian languages (spoken) are pretty easy to understand for a dutchie
On holidays and by cycling abroad I learned a few words italian and spanish, although the little I learned is mostly forgotten by now.
And of course a few programming languages
veelsgeciteerd enzo
edit: lighting one now.... guess I'll dedicate it to you

Cherry made the legendary G80, not fancy but mechanic and made for huge amounts of keystrokes with a unique feeling.
If you work for hours on em, try one of these or other mechanic keyboards!

those look a lot better than the cheapo plastic 10 euro-ish cherry keyboard I had
One of my first keyboards was an IBM model M. Absolutely great and unbreakable behemoth.
(still like my apples better though
)
i've owned a cherry in my gaming days
lasted a week
