I'm running CrunchBang on a Celeron 400 with 192 mbs of ram. It's running fine, although the Chromium browser it comes packaged with is a bit slow. This can easily be fixed by downloading Midori. I'm sure it should work for you if you add some swap to your harddrive. That's all I did, and it works.
