I got it figured out. I wasn't able to roll back to the nouveau drivers so I was basically forced to run the NVIDIA drivers or format/reinstall the OS just to use the nouveau ones.

What I was able to do to get the resolution (1280x1024) was change the HorizSync and VertRefresh.

in xorg.conf I changed HorizSync to 30-81 and VertRefrest to 56-75 typed in /etc/init.d/gdm restart

logged in. Ran a terminal session. SU (or sudo) ran nvidia-settings and boom there were all the resolutions that I was looking for.

That's way out of my league...

At this point I rather just roll back to the nouveau drivers and dump the NVIDIA ones all together if I have to go through all of this to have 1280x1024..

I just don't know how to do it besides formatting and putting a fresh copy of #! on my comp...

that didn't work....I reboot the machine...I have some resolutions but not the 1280x1024 that I want.

Before I installed the NVIDIA drivers, and the computer didn't have any I had TONS of choices for resolutions and such.

I installed the latest drivers from NVIDIA's site... 260.19.36

Yesh I've done that....same thing....only those 2 resolutions.

I have statler.

NVIDA 6200

Driver version: 260.19.29

Problem is I ONLY have 2 resolutions...

320x240 and 640x480

I've tried the newest driver this one and the last 5 before it...and I can't have any other resolution besides these two...

So I install CrunchBang 10R20110207

Loving it so far! Just one problem...

I'm able to select the soundcard I want to use for MP3 playback in VLC...which I chose to use my Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 card.

Crunchbang by default is using my onboard AC-97. I want all the sound on my comp to be handled through my Sound Blaster Live! NOT the AC-97. (want to make the Sound Blaster Live sound card '0' instead of '1'

I poked around on other websites for configuring ALSA through the different Config files...but I got completely lost, plus almost ALL of the "config" files that they had listed on the site and for locations don't even exist...

I'm fairly new to Linux...
