I seem to be having an issue with radio tray in crunchbang 10.

All the dependencies are installed and I installed it from the repository (also tried the .deb from the website). With both installs when I try to start any station I recieve the error.

Your GStreamer installation is missing a plugin.

I've tried custom url's that work with VLC as well not just the packaged bookmarks.

I've tried gstreamer nice, good, bad even pulse plugins (noticed vlc has pulseaudio plugin installed) and I still get the same error.

The output of radiotray from launch until error message pops up.

Update got it working but not sure exactly what it was.

I tossed the kitchen sink at it.

I suspect it came from ugly or x since I tried most of the others by themselves at first.

Update: it seems to require only good and ugly. It fails to run without both of these.

top on a 1,6ghz 1gb ram netbook it varies between 1,1-5% of ram. It sticks at 3% when playing so bit less than 30mb of with my 1gb.

Interestingly before doing winbind/nsswitch.conf I couldn't properly query the shares with nautilus in the latest 10.10 Ubuntu (fresh install) as well. Hence the Ubuntu reference. It worked for Ubuntu 10.10/nautilus then I tried it with Crunchbang 10/thunar so it seems to be an issue with debian.

Edit:

I might also add this fixed my network printer config issue. Typically I had to connect via LDP and assign a static ip. Before doing this Ubuntu 10.10 (without doing the ip connect) would see the printer via find network printer etc and install the proper drivers but when I printed it was unable to connect.

I haven't tested it in crunchbang yet but I assume it would exhibit the same behavior due to the the similar windows-shares netbios query issue.

Hello new user to Crunchbang I was following this thread to fix samba and thought I should contribute my little bit to it.

With #! 10 statler I am able to see, navigate, and modify windows shares in thunar by doing the following.

Before doing step 3 the system would sometimes see WORKGROUP but thunar could not navigate it.

1) Install smbnetfs and set it up according to this thread. Also be sure to include a smbnetfs.auth file in your ~/.smb/ directory along with smb.conf and smbnetfs.conf

2) install winbind (15mb)

sudo apt-get install winbind

3) edit nsswitch.conf --thanks to http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1169149

sudo gedit /etc/nsswitch.conf

find the line that looks like

hosts:          files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns mdns4

add wins

 hosts:          files mdns4_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] wins dns mdns4

sudo reboot or restart samba

now when you mount ~/network/ eg. smbnetfs ~/network/ it should properly be able to query the shares.

smbnetfs.auth contains the user/password information for shares in the following format

auth "username" "password"

eg. user = teddy, password = 12345

auth "teddy" "12345"

Hope this helps someone out.
