Try putting an image/wallpaper in /home/*username*/images/wallpapers/, maybe you don't have any images in that folder?

Is there a way to edit my default display settings upon start up? Everytime I boot up the refresh rate is too high and causes my monitor to flash.

Edited my configuration a little and went even more minimal. Once again used something I made for my wallpaper.

As soon as I read that I added a link to my signature. Also I really wish that crunchbang could incorporate the package I need to create that art. Its called Qosmic and its a pain in the ass to install on anything ubuntu.
